Evolving Relation with Ma Ganga
Simplifying the IIT Ganga Basin River Management Plan
One important fact that the GRBMP points out is that the Ganga waters are inter connected with surface water courses (rivers and rivulets), surface water bodies (lakes, marshlands, and icecaps), and groundwater (water table and deep groundwater). Therefore, a holistic approach needed for revival.

TEMPLE ARCHITECTURE
A Temple, also called a devalya literally translated to "house of God". Built in the image of a cosmic being - Vastu Purusha, it consists of various elements as explained in Vishwakarma Vastu Purusha:
"गरबा गृह सिराहपोक्तम अंतरालम गलामथाथा अर्ध मंडपम हृदयस्थानम कुचिस्थानम मंडपमहन मेध्रस्थानेशु द्वाजस्तंभम प्रकरम जंजुआंगीचा गोपुरम पदयोस्केथा पदस्य अंगुला पोकथाह गोपुरम स्तुपस्थथा एंगुला पोकथा गोपुरम स्तुपस्थथाम”
Meaning: Garba-griham (main sanctum) is equated with human head; antarala (vestibule) is equated with human neck; ardha – mandapam (half-hall) is compared with human chest; maha – mandapam (main hall) is equated with the stomach; flag-post is viewed along with human male organ;and gopuram or temple gateway tower is viewed along with human feet.
WHAT IS A WATER TEMPLE?
The naturally filtered Ganga water is stored in a sacred vessel "Water Temple". This holy water brings to life the complete experience of the aliveness of Ganga throughout the basin in the form of a sensory engagement with different energy forms of mother Ganga realizing the oneness of our human bodies with the water cycle.
MODERN EXPERIENCES ROOTED IN TRADITION
It will be a demonstration site for sustainable technology, renewable energy, zero environmental footprint building techniques and integrated with a natural water filtration system creating harmonizing body energy centres of each individual with the water cycle.
A functional symbol of united Indian effort for generations to come, conforming to United Nations’ Charter of Sustainable Goals 2030.
